When you drink Japanese whisky, you must use all 5 senses. That's because the Japanese love American whiskey so much they've elevated it to an art form - where the art of blending reigns supreme, and this distillery is the most highly decorated. Hibiki, which translates to "resonance" in English, echoes the unique environment in which the whisky is distilled and matured, celebrating harmony: completeness ("Kanzen") and oneness ("Wa"). This 17-year whisky, a blend of malt and grain crafted from a blend of over 30 unique whiskies produced at both Yamazaki Distillery and Hakushu Distillery, including some that have matured in previously-used Umeshu casks (Umeshu casks are specially coopered casks that are used in the maturation of plum liqueur). It's a solid amber whisky, seductive and silent, rich and delicate, what critics have called "enigmatic" — perfect to enjoy neat, on the rocks, or maybe in a highball. Plus, the 24-faceted bottle, to represent the seasons of the Japanese lunar calendar, is an elegant decanter for your bar cart long after the world-renowned, award-winning whisky has spirited away.
